Whilst bringing back strong cinematic motifs reminiscent of Ennio Morricone as well as the sounds of his home-(Iceland)’s dreamlike landscapes, inspiring listeners to listen deeply, Thomas Stankiewicz performs and works around the world as a composer, producer, guitarist and selector of sounds. In his work which is largely cinematic, he writes music for film as well as classical compositions and has worked on acclaimed performances, such as Southbank Center with The London Contemporary Orchestra, Barbican Art Gallery with Ragnar Kjartansson and The Royal Albert Hall with Molly Lewis to name a few.

With a surprisingly discerning ear for everything uniquely beautiful, atmospheric and timeless - which earned him the trust of NTS Radio and its listeners - Thomas became a self taught musician at an early age long before studying his mother tongue, classical music. He has works reminiscent of Ravel and Stravinsky, as well as Brian Eno and Sigur Rós. As for the driving force, “There is something vast and beautiful that urgently awaits to be communicated, and the aspiration to create beauty can also be said to fulfil the role of service as an artist, ” he says. Seeking the sublime through forgotten stories of sound and melodies is something Thomas will never stop to do.. as a composer, as a selector, but first and foremost: as a listener..
